The Coin Collection

Discovering ancient treasures

Between the prestige of history and artistic charm, the elegant residence of Palazzo Carafa Santangelo has been the guardian of treasures for centuries, treasures that formed the Santangelo Museum, which, along with the Bourbon Museum, were essential destinations on the grand cultural tours of Europe in the 19th century.

Here was preserved part of the heritage made up of the collections of the Santangelo marquises, which boasted an art gallery, a coin collection, and a collection of Etruscan-Roman vases, all which bear witness to the family’s glorious past and its descendants.

The undeniable power of the Santangelo family is reflected in the largest collection of Greco-Roman coins from the first half of the 19th century.

Each coin is carefully cataloged and documented to preserve its authenticity and value.

Every coin tells a story and holds an invaluable significance.

You will have the privilege of admiring this collection by visiting the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN), located just a 5-minute walk from the residence.
